What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 60 days beyond your planned departure from Turkey.

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee — the 90-day visa-free entry is free for US passport holders.
  • No processing time applies since there is no pre-travel visa or e-Visa step; clearance happens at the border on arrival.
  • If a short-term residence permit is later needed, fees run roughly USD 50–120 depending on province, with processing of 4–8 weeks through the Turkish Directorate General of Migration Management (goc.gov.tr).
  • No express service exists for the visa-free allowance itself.

Tips for United States travelers

  • Track your 90/180-day usage carefully if you make repeat trips to Turkey — the counter is rolling, not reset per calendar year.
  • Keep proof of your return ticket and accommodation accessible at check-in, since airlines may verify visa-free eligibility before boarding.
  • If you plan to stay longer than 90 days, start a short-term residence permit application well before your visa-free days run out — you cannot simply extend at the border.
  • Dual nationals or travelers who previously needed Turkey's e-Visa system should note that US passport holders generally fall under the visa-free, not e-Visa, category under current rules.
