Tips for United States travelers

  • Apply well in advance: Start the application at least 7–14 days before planned travel to allow for any issues.
  • Common rejection reasons for US applicants: Incomplete data, passport validity not meeting 6 months, mismatch between travel plans and visa category, or failing to provide required accommodation/return ticket evidence.
  • eVisa vs embassy submission: Mongolia currently offers online eVisa (evisa.mn) for most short stays; there is no separate VFS/BLS submission for US passport holders unless you apply for a longer or special category via a Mongolian embassy.
  • Travel advisories: Check the U.S. Department of State travel advisory for Mongolia and follow consular guidance regarding entry and health measures.
  • Extensions: Short stays may be extended by applying with Mongolian Immigration prior to visa expiration; approval and duration depend on case review and may incur additional fees.
