  • No visa application form required for stays under 360 days
  • Proof of onward or return travel is not strictly checked but recommended
  • No mandatory proof of funds, though border officers may ask informally
  • No biometrics collection for US citizens entering visa-free
  • Travel health/medical insurance is not mandatory but strongly recommended

Visa types

  • No visa category applies: US passport holders are admitted visa-free as tourists, for business meetings, or short family visits
  • Stays over 360 days or activities like paid employment require a Georgian residence permit or work visa, applied for through the Public Service Hall or a Georgian consulate
  • Digital nomads can also use the visa-free entry and later apply for Georgia's Remotely from Georgia program if staying longer-term

Entry conditions

  • US citizens are granted up to 360 consecutive days of visa-free stay per entry
  • Entry is via passport control at any international airport (Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi) or land border
  • No fee is charged for visa-free entry
  • Working for a Georgian employer or engaging in paid local activity is not permitted on this entry status
  • To extend beyond 360 days, you must apply for a residence permit before the visa-free period expires, or exit and re-enter after a short break (subject to border officer discretion)

  • No processing time: admission is granted at the border on the spot
  • If applying for a residence permit instead, government fees range from GEL 50-410 depending on permit type, with processing of 20-30 working days (or 10 days for the expedited option)

Tips for United States travelers

  • Keep your entry stamp/date visible since the 360-day count starts from your arrival date, not the calendar year
  • Common issue: assuming the allowance resets each calendar year — it does not, it's tied to each individual stay
  • No need to pre-register online; just bring your valid US passport
  • If you plan to work remotely for a non-Georgian employer, this visa-free status is sufficient for most digital nomad stays
  • For stays beyond 360 days, start the residence permit application at least a month before your visa-free period ends
