Tips for United States travelers

  • Apply well in advance of travel: start the e-visa application as soon as your travel plans are final; processing can vary by volume.
  • Common rejection reasons for US applicants: mismatched data between passport and application, passport validity under 6 months, uploaded photo not meeting specs, incomplete information, or failure to provide required hotel/invitation details when asked.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy: for Burkina Faso e-visa you apply directly online via visaburkina.com; VFS/BLS are not part of the online e-visa workflow.
  • Travel advisories: check the U.S. State Department travel advisories and Burkina Faso government advisories before travel for any security or health updates.
  • Extensions: visa extensions may be possible by applying with Burkina Faso immigration authorities while in country; extensions are not guaranteed and must be requested before current visa expiry.
