Romania Visa for Pakistan Citizens 2026

Pakistani citizens need a Romanian national (Type D) or short-stay visa arranged before travel; fee around EUR 80-120, processing 15-30 business days.

What you need

  • Passport valid at least 3 months beyond intended departure, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed and signed Romanian visa application form
  • 2 recent color photos, 35x45mm, white background
  • Travel/health insurance covering at least EUR 30,000
  • Proof of accommodation: hotel booking or invitation letter, notarized where required
  • Round-trip flight reservation
  • Bank statements for the last 6 months showing sufficient funds
  • Employment letter or NOC from employer, or business registration if self-employed
  • Biometrics required, submitted in person at VFS Global Islamabad

Visa types

  • Short-stay visa (Type C) - Tourist/Visit: up to 90 days within any 180-day period, single or multiple entry, fee approx EUR 80
  • Short-stay visa (Type C) - Business: for meetings and trade activities, requires invitation letter
  • National visa (Type D) - Work/Study: for stays over 90 days, requires a separate, more extensive application, fee approx EUR 120, processing 30-45 days
  • Note: Romania applies Schengen border-free rules for air/sea travel; a Romanian visa does not automatically cover full Schengen land travel

How to apply

  • Book an appointment online with VFS Global Romania visa application centre in Pakistan
  • Complete the application form and gather all supporting documents
  • Attend the appointment in person for document submission and biometrics
  • Pay the visa fee (EUR 80 short-stay or EUR 120 national visa) plus VFS service fee at the centre
  • Track application status online using the VFS reference number
  • Collect passport once a decision is made, or opt for courier return

Tips for Pakistan travelers

  • Apply at least 6-8 weeks before intended travel given longer processing for Romanian visas compared to core Schengen states

  • All applications go through VFS Global; there is no direct embassy submission option for most categories
