Visa on Arrival

Guide last updated October 20, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from date of entry
  • A valid, unexpired/unused visa or residence permit from the US, UK, Schengen Area, Canada, Australia, Japan, or South Korea, OR a pre-approved Qatar e-visa if you do not hold one of these
  • Confirmed return or onward ticket
  • Proof of hotel booking or local address
  • Travel health insurance recommended, though not mandatory for visa on arrival
  • No biometrics required at the border for visa on arrival
  • Passport photo not required at the counter, only for the online e-visa (white background, 4x6cm)

Visa types

  • Visa on Arrival: free, single entry, 30 days, non-extendable at the port, for qualifying visa/residence-permit holders
  • Qatar e-Visa: QAR 100 fee, single/multiple entry, up to 30 days, extendable once for another 30 days, for travelers without a qualifying third-country visa
  • Business visa: sponsored by a Qatari company, single entry, 30 days
  • Transit visa: 96 hours, free, for Qatar Airways passengers transiting Hamad International Airport

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Hamad International Airport immigration counters only; no land or sea ports
  • Present your passport plus the qualifying US/UK/Schengen/Canada/Australia/Japan/South Korea visa or residence permit
  • The immigration officer stamps a free 30-day single-entry visa directly in the passport
  • No separate form or fee at the counter; average wait 15-30 minutes
  • Travelers without a qualifying visa should apply online in advance at the MOI portal before departure

Fees & processing time

  • Visa on arrival: free, issued instantly at the airport
  • Online e-visa for non-qualifying travelers: QAR 100 (about USD 27), processing 2-5 working days
  • No separate service-center fee; applications go directly through the official MOI portal
  • 30-day extension on either route: QAR 100 (about USD 27), filed online before expiry

Tips for Pakistan travelers

  • Carry physical or digital proof of the qualifying visa or residence permit; airlines routinely deny boarding without it
  • Book the e-visa at least 5 working days ahead if you do not hold a qualifying visa, since it is not issued at the airport
  • Rejections are commonly due to an expired or already-used qualifying visa, or a return ticket beyond the 30-day window
  • Qatar Airways staff verify visa eligibility before check-in, so confirm your status with the MOI portal ahead of travel
  • File the extension a few days before the visa expires; overstaying incurs a daily fine
