Maldives Visa for Pakistan Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

Pakistani citizens get a free 30-day visa on arrival in the Maldives, provided they show a confirmed hotel/resort booking, a return ticket, and sufficient funds; an online IMUGA Traveller Health Declaration/arrival card via immigration.gov.mv is mandatory before arrival.

Guide last updated October 20, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival (recommended; Maldives generally requires validity for the duration of stay plus a buffer)
  • Confirmed hotel, resort, or guesthouse booking for the full duration of stay (or proof of a liveaboard/cruise booking)
  • Confirmed onward/return air ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds, generally expected to cover accommodation and daily expenses (no fixed published minimum, but officers may ask)
  • Mandatory online IMUGA (Traveller Health Declaration and arrival/departure card) submission via immigration.gov.mv, normally within 96 hours before arrival
  • No visa fee and no advance application needed - the visa on arrival is issued free of charge
  • Biometrics: photo taken at the immigration counter on arrival; no advance biometrics required

Visa types

  • Free 30-day tourist visa on arrival: single entry, issued to virtually all nationalities including Pakistan, no fee
  • Extension beyond 30 days: available through the Maldives Immigration office for a fee, generally granted in further periods, up to a total of 90 days for tourists
  • Business visa: also issued on arrival for short business trips with similar documentation, extendable with a local sponsor's support

Visa on arrival

  • No pre-arrival visa application is needed - complete the mandatory IMUGA online Traveller Health Declaration and arrival card at immigration.gov.mv before your flight (usually within 96 hours of arrival)
  • On arrival at Velana International Airport (or other entry points), present your passport, hotel booking, return ticket, and IMUGA confirmation at the immigration counter
  • The 30-day visa is stamped free of charge - no payment is required at this stage
  • Queue tips: have your IMUGA QR code and hotel confirmation readily accessible on your phone or printed, as officers check these before stamping

Fees & processing time

  • Visa on arrival fee: none - the initial 30-day stay is free for Pakistani passport holders
  • IMUGA online registration: free, done in advance
  • Extension fee (if staying beyond 30 days): payable in USD or Maldivian Rufiyaa at the Immigration office, amount varies by extension period
  • Processing time at the airport: typically a few minutes once documents are in order
  • No express fee needed since the process is already fast; delays mostly occur if the hotel booking or IMUGA registration is incomplete

Tips for Pakistan travelers

  • Always complete the IMUGA Traveller Health Declaration before departure - airlines may deny boarding without it
  • Common issues: no confirmed accommodation booking (a mere reservation hold is not always accepted), no return ticket, or an IMUGA submission with mismatched passport details
  • Since many Maldives trips are resort-based, ensure your resort transfer/boat booking is confirmed alongside the hotel booking
  • Carry a printed or digital copy of your return flight and resort booking at the immigration counter
  • For extensions beyond 30 days, apply at the Department of Immigration before the current visa expires to avoid overstay penalties
