Guide last updated October 20, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of arrival
  • Scanned copy of the passport bio-data page
  • Digital passport-size photo, white background, uploaded during application
  • Confirmed return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate if arriving from or transiting a yellow-fever-endemic country
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay
  • Biometrics not required for the eTA; not collected on arrival for most travelers

Visa types

  • Single-entry eTA (Tourist/Business): valid for 90 days from approval, fee USD 34
  • East Africa Tourist Visa: covers Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda in one application, valid 90 days, fee USD 100 (apply via Kenya's eCitizen portal if entering Kenya first)
  • Transit eTA: for travelers transiting through Kenya, processed the same way as the standard eTA

How to apply online

  • Visit the official Kenya eTA portal (etavisa.go.ke or ecitizen.go.ke)
  • Create an account and complete the online application with passport, travel, and accommodation details
  • Upload the passport scan and photo
  • Pay the eTA fee online by credit or debit card (USD 34)
  • Processing typically takes 2-3 business days; approval is sent by email
  • Present the eTA approval (printed or digital) with passport and yellow fever certificate (if applicable) on arrival at a Kenyan port of entry

Fees & processing time

  • eTA fee: USD 34 (~PKR 9,500) for single entry
  • East Africa Tourist Visa fee: USD 100 for Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda combined
  • No additional service fee for direct application through the official portal
  • Standard processing: 2-3 business days
  • No official express option; delays can occur during peak travel seasons

Tips for Pakistan travelers

  • Apply at least 1 week before travel to allow for processing and document verification
  • Common rejection reasons: missing yellow fever certificate when required, mismatched passport/photo details, incomplete accommodation proof
  • Apply only through the official eCitizen/eTA portal; avoid third-party sites charging inflated fees
  • Check current health advisories, as Kenya strictly enforces yellow fever certificate requirements for travelers connecting through endemic regions
  • Extensions of stay can be arranged through Kenya's Department of Immigration Services while in-country
