Guide last updated October 19, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid at least 6 months beyond travel dates with 2 blank pages
  • Completed Guatemala visa application form from the embassy
  • Two recent passport-size photos, 2x2 inches, white background
  • Confirmed round-trip flight itinerary
  • Hotel booking or invitation letter if staying with family or friends
  • Bank statement for the last 3-6 months showing sufficient funds (around USD 2,000-3,000 equivalent)
  • Travel health insurance recommended but not always mandatory
  • Biometrics are not usually collected at the consulate stage

Visa types

  • Tourist visa (Visa de Turista) - single entry, valid for use within 90 days of issue, allows stay up to 90 days, fee approximately USD 30
  • Business visa - requires an invitation letter from a Guatemalan company, same fee structure
  • CA-4 Visa Unico - once issued by Guatemala or another member state, permits travel across Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua without reapplying

How to apply

  • Pakistan has no resident Guatemalan embassy; applications usually go through the Guatemalan embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE, or Beijing, China
  • Submit the application form, photos, passport and supporting documents in person or by courier
  • Pay the visa fee in local currency equivalent or USD as instructed by the embassy
  • Standard processing takes 10-15 working days once the file is complete
  • No in-person interview is usually required for straightforward tourist applications

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: approximately USD 30
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee - applications go directly to the embassy
  • Total estimated cost: USD 30-50 including courier/postage if applying by mail
  • Standard processing: 10-15 working days
  • No official express service; allow extra time when applying through a third-country embassy

Tips for Pakistan travelers

  • Apply 4-6 weeks before travel since documents must be couriered to a third-country embassy
  • Common rejection reasons: insufficient funds, unclear travel purpose, missing hotel or flight confirmation
  • Keep copies of everything mailed, since there is no local VFS/BLS center
  • Check current entry rules before travel, as Central American visa policy for Pakistani nationals changes periodically
  • Short extensions (within the 90-day CA-4 limit) can be requested at the Instituto Guatemalteco de Migracion
