Chinese citizens must obtain a Zambia eVisa before travel via https://evisa.zambiaimmigration.gov.zm; fees start at USD 50 for Tourist, and processing is 3–5 working days.

What you need

  • Passport validity: passport must be valid for at least 6 months from date of entry and have at least 2 blank visa pages.
  • Specific forms: apply online only via the Zambia eVisa portal (https://evisa.zambiaimmigration.gov.zm/); no separate DS-160/VAF forms.
  • Financial proof: not a published requirement for eVisa; have funds to cover your stay (recommended but not mandatory).
  • Accommodation and return ticket: not mandatory to book before application, but you should have accommodation details and a return/onward ticket available if requested at entry.
  • Photo spec: upload a recent passport-style photo; JPEG or PNG; white background; max 2 MB; recommended 600x600 px.
  • Biometrics: online application does not require biometrics; biometric data may be collected on arrival at port of entry if required.
  • Travel health insurance: not mandatory, but strongly recommended.

  • Business visa (Zambia Business Visa) — eVisa; official name: Zambia Business Visa (eVisa); validity: up to 90 days; max stay per entry: up to 90 days; single entry; approximate fee: USD 100.
  • Student visa (Zambia Student Visa) — eVisa; official name: Zambia Student Visa (eVisa); validity: duration of study; multiple entries allowed; approximate fee: USD 120.
  • Work visa (Zambia Work Visa) — eVisa; official name: Zambia Work Visa (eVisa); validity: 1 year; multiple entries allowed; max stay per entry: 12 months; approximate fee: USD 150.
  • Transit visa (if applicable) — eVisa; official name: Zambia Transit Visa (eVisa); validity: up to 3 days; single entry; approximate fee: USD 40.

How to apply online

  • How to apply online: go to https://evisa.zambiaimmigration.gov.zm/ and create an account.
  • Steps: 1) select visa type, 2) complete applicant details, 3) upload required documents (passport bio page scan, recent photo, invitation letter for business, acceptance letter for study, etc.), 4) pay the visa fee online by card, 5) submit application and wait for confirmation email.
  • Fee (local currency and USD): government fee per category (see above) payable in USD on portal; some banks may convert to ZMW; no additional local processing fee is charged by the portal beyond the listed visa fee.
  • Processing time: 3–5 working days for standard processing; express/urgent processing available in 1–2 working days for a supplementary fee.
  • How approval arrives: you will receive an emailed eVisa approval letter as a PDF; print this and carry to Zambia; immigration may verify via QR or portal when you arrive.

Tips for China travelers
