Chinese citizens can enter Thailand visa-free for stays of up to 60 days under the permanent visa exemption scheme, needing only a valid passport and proof of onward travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid 6+ months beyond entry date
  • Proof of onward or return flight
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Proof of sufficient funds, THB 20,000 per person or THB 40,000 per family, occasionally checked
  • Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) completed online before arrival
  • No advance visa application needed
  • Standard immigration photo/fingerprint check on arrival
  • Travel insurance recommended

Visa types

  • Visa-free tourist entry: 60 days, single entry per visit, extendable once for 30 days
  • Visa on arrival is not needed given the visa exemption
  • Longer stays, work, or study require a separate visa (Tourist Visa, Non-Immigrant Visa) arranged in advance via evisa.go.th

Entry conditions

  • Chinese passport holders are admitted visa-free for tourism purposes for up to 60 days
  • No employment permitted
  • Must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within 3 days before arrival

  • The 30-day extension costs THB 1,900 and is processed same-day at immigration offices
  • No advance processing time needed for the initial 60-day stay beyond completing the Digital Arrival Card

Tips for China travelers

  • Complete the Digital Arrival Card online before departure to speed up immigration
  • Carry proof of onward travel and accommodation, as immigration officers can still request it
  • Avoid frequent back-to-back visa-free entries, as it may trigger extra scrutiny
  • Apply for the 30-day extension at a local immigration office before the initial 60 days expire if more time is needed
