Chinese citizens can apply for Vietnam's online e-visa (E-visa) at https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/; the fee is USD 25, processing takes 3 working days, and the visa grants a single 30-day stay.

What you need

  • Passport validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned entry date; ensure you have at least 1 blank page remaining in your passport.
  • Specific forms if any: No paper form; complete the online application on the official e-visa portal; you will upload your passport data page and a digital photo during the online submission.
  • Financial proof: Not required for the e-visa application; you are not required to show funds in the application (border officers may ask for funds at entry, but it is not mandated by the e-visa system).
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Not required in the online application; you should have hotel bookings or a plan for your stay and onward/return travel in case border officers request it.
  • Photo spec: You must upload a recent color passport-style photo; file types JPG/JPEG or PNG; maximum file size 1 MB.
  • Biometrics: No additional biometrics enrollment is required as part of the online e-visa application; border authorities may collect biometrics at the point of entry if needed.
  • Travel health insurance: Not required for the visa; it is recommended to have travel health insurance for medical costs while in Vietnam.

  • Notes: The Vietnam e-visa is not available as a multiple-entry option; for longer stays or multiple entries you must apply for another visa type via a Vietnamese embassy/consulate or consider other visa routes.

How to apply online

  • How to apply online: go to https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/ and create an account or log in.
  • Step 1: Fill in the online application form with your personal details and travel plan.
  • Step 2: Upload required documents: scanned passport data page and a passport-style photo; ensure the name exactly matches your passport.
  • Step 3: Pay the e-visa fee of USD 25 online with a credit/debit card (or other accepted payment methods).
  • Step 4: Wait for processing (standard: 3 working days; exclude weekends and Vietnamese holidays).
  • Step 5: When approved, download/print the e-visa or print the approval letter from your portal account.
  • Step 6: Travel to Vietnam and present the e-visa along with your passport at immigration; border officers will verify and stamp if required.

  • Visa fee: 25 USD; approximate local currency equivalent around 570,000 VND (rate varies; use current rate at time of payment).
  • VFS/BLS service fee: Not applicable for the online e-visa; no external service fees apply.
  • Total cost estimate: about 25 USD (plus any payment processing charges your card issuer applies).
  • Standard processing time: 3 working days (Mon–Fri; excludes weekends and Vietnamese holidays).
  • Express/priority option: Not published on the official e-visa portal; there is no separate express option listed.

Tips for China travelers

  • How far in advance to apply: Apply at least 3–5 working days before travel; during peak travel periods (Tet holiday, Chinese holidays) allow extra time.
  • Common rejection reasons for China applicants specifically: Ensure the passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond entry; ensure the name on the online application matches the passport; upload clear legible copies of the passport data page and a passport photo; ensure the travel purpose aligns with the e-visa; ensure all personal details (DOB, gender) are correct and match the passport.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy application: The Vietnam e-visa is applied only through the official online portal and does not involve VFS/BLS; for other visa types (sticker visa or visa-on-arrival via agencies) you would use embassy/consulate processes.
  • Travel advisories or bilateral notes: Check your country's official travel advisories for Vietnam and Vietnam's entry requirements; stay updated on any health or border restrictions.
  • Extension options inside Vietnam: The e-visa cannot be extended; to stay longer, you must exit Vietnam and re-enter with a new e-visa or apply for another visa type through a Vietnamese embassy/consulate before travel.
