Chinese citizens can obtain a visa on arrival for Tanzania at major airports and land borders, or pre-apply online, with a fee of USD 50 and processing of 15-30 minutes on arrival or a few days online.

  • Passport photo
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate if arriving from or transiting an endemic country
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Return or onward ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • Payment in USD cash or card for the on-arrival fee
  • Travel insurance recommended

Visa types

  • Single-entry tourist visa on arrival: 90 days, USD 50
  • Multiple-entry visa: available online in advance, USD 100
  • Transit visa: short validity, lower fee
  • East Africa Tourist Visa: multi-country, covers Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, applied online in advance

  • Available at Julius Nyerere International Airport (Dar es Salaam), Kilimanjaro International Airport, Zanzibar, and major land borders
  • Alternatively pre-apply online at eservices.immigration.go.tz to get e-visa approval before travel and skip the arrival queue
  • Pay the fee in USD cash or by card at the counter if applying on arrival
  • On-site processing: typically 15-30 minutes
  • Online pre-approval: a few business days

Tips for China travelers
