What you need

  • Passport validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry into Taiwan and have at least 2 blank visa pages.

  • Biometrics: Generally not routinely required for all PRC applicants, but some TECO offices may request biometrics or an interview; follow local TECO instructions.
  • Travel health insurance: Not strictly required, but recommended to have coverage for medical expenses during the Taiwan visit.

  • Student Visa (Official name: Student Visa): Validity up to 1 year or longer with multiple-entry options in some cases; stay per entry usually up to 180 days; fees similar to tourist/business depending on entry type.
  • Employment/Work Visa (Official name: Employment Visa): Validity up to 1 year with possible extensions; stay per entry varies; requires invitation/contract from an Taiwan employer; fees similar to other categories depending on entry type.
  • Other categories (e.g., Family Visit): Available per TECO assessment; fees and validity align with entry type and purpose.

How to apply

  • How to apply: Sticker visa process via TECO offices in China (e.g., Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenyang, Chengdu, Chongqing, etc.) or via the nearest TECO-consulate network; e-Visa/eTA is not currently offered for PRC passport holders.

  • Current travel advisories or bilateral notes: Always check BOCA.gov.tw and MOFA Taiwan advisories before travel for cross-strait policy updates or entry restrictions; consult the nearest TECO office for the most current requirements.
  • Extension options inside Taiwan: Short-term visa extensions are generally limited and not guaranteed; if longer stay is needed, depart Taiwan and reapply for a new visa from a TECO office before travel or seek guidance from Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency on permissible extension options.
