What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • No visa or advance application required for stays up to 90 days under Palestinian Authority entry rules
  • Because the West Bank and Gaza do not control their own external borders, entry is almost always made through Ben Gurion Airport, the Allenby/King Hussein Bridge from Jordan, or the Israeli-controlled Erez crossing for Gaza - each applies its own screening
  • Proof of accommodation and a clear travel itinerary, since Israeli border control may ask about the purpose of travel to the West Bank
  • Return or onward ticket
  • Travel health insurance: strongly recommended, not mandatory
  • Biometrics: fingerprint/photo capture is standard practice at Israeli-controlled crossing points

  • Tourist entry stamp - free, issued at the point of entry, valid up to 90 days, single entry per crossing
  • No separate business or student visa category is issued directly by the Palestinian Authority; longer stays for work or study are arranged through the relevant Palestinian ministry with a local sponsor

Entry conditions

  • Permitted stay: up to 90 days for tourism, non-renewable without leaving and re-entering
  • Work is not permitted on the tourist entry stamp
  • On arrival you must be able to show your return ticket and, if visiting the West Bank, a clear reason for travel (sightseeing, religious visit, business meeting)
  • Gaza access is heavily restricted and generally not available to tourists; the West Bank (Bethlehem, Ramallah, Jericho, Hebron) is the realistic itinerary for most visitors
  • Extensions beyond 90 days require applying through the Palestinian Ministry of Interior with a local sponsor or reason

Fees & processing time

  • Entry stamp itself: free
  • No visa fee at any Palestinian Authority crossing point
  • Processing time: immediate at the point of entry, though queues at Allenby Bridge can run 1-3 hours during peak periods
  • No express option exists since there is no advance application

Tips for China travelers

  • Fly into Tel Aviv (Ben Gurion) and travel overland to the West Bank, or cross via the Allenby Bridge from Amman, Jordan - both are the standard routes used by Chinese tour groups
  • Carry a hotel booking for the West Bank specifically, since Israeli border officers at Ben Gurion sometimes question travelers whose only stated destination is Jerusalem or the West Bank
  • Avoid mentioning Gaza as a destination unless traveling with an accredited organization, as this can trigger extended secondary screening
  • Chinese citizens traveling as part of an organized pilgrimage or tour group generally clear crossings faster than independent travelers
  • Check current security advisories before finalizing an itinerary, as access to specific West Bank towns can change with little notice
