China passport holders can obtain a visa on arrival at Muscat or Salalah airports for short stays in Oman; pay the visa fee at the counter and receive a stamp on arrival.

What you need

  • Passport validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Oman.
  • Specific forms: No pre-visa is required; visa on arrival is issued at the port of entry and you may be asked to fill an arrival/declaration form.
  • Financial proof: There is no published fixed minimum funds requirement for VOA; immigration may request proof of funds or bank statements if asked, so carry recent statements if possible.

  • Work visa on arrival – Not available at VOA desks; work visas require employer sponsorship and advance processing (e-visa or embassy/consulate route).
  • Other VOA options (if offered locally) – Availability and conditions can vary by port; check MOFA guidance on arrival facilities.

How to apply

  • Visa on arrival: Arrive at designated ports of entry (Muscat International Airport [MCT], Salalah Airport [SLL]); proceed to the immigration/visa on arrival desk.
  • Steps at the port: Present your passport, provide any requested documents (return/onward ticket, hotel details), and pay the visa fee in cash (OMR) or sometimes in USD; the visa is issued on the spot and stamped in your passport.
  • Fees and currencies: Pay the published VOA fee at the counter in OMR; cash is commonly accepted, with USD sometimes accepted at some ports depending on current policy.
  • Processing time: Typically minutes to a few hours at the counter; plan for some waiting time during peak hours.
  • How the approval arrives: A visa stamp is placed in your passport at the desk after payment and verification; you can proceed to immigration control once stamped.

Tips for China travelers
