What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • Confirmed return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking) for the duration of stay
  • Visa fee payable by card or cash (OMR or major convertible currency) at the arrival counter
  • No photo is typically required at the counter, as most processing is done digitally
  • Travel health insurance is recommended though not mandatory; no biometrics beyond a photo/fingerprint scan taken at immigration

  • Multiple-entry 1-year tourist visa is also available for frequent visitors, at a higher fee, typically applied for online in advance rather than on arrival

  • Available at Muscat International Airport and Salalah International Airport
  • Steps: proceed to the visa counter or self-service kiosk before immigration, select the visa duration (10 or 30 days), pay the fee by card or cash, receive the visa stamp or printed authorization, then proceed to the immigration counter
  • Fees are payable in OMR or major convertible currencies (USD, EUR); card payment is widely accepted at the counter
  • Processing at the counter typically takes 10-20 minutes outside of peak arrival periods
  • Many travelers also have the option to pre-apply online via Oman's eVisa system before departure to skip the on-arrival queue

  • Carry a printed hotel booking confirmation, as it is sometimes requested at the counter
  • Have both a card and some cash in OMR or USD ready, in case the counter's card machine is temporarily unavailable
  • Oman's visa on arrival does not permit employment; a separate work visa sponsored by a local employer is required for work purposes
  • Extensions of the 30-day visa can be requested at the Royal Oman Police's Directorate General of Passports and Residence before the visa expires
