Nigeria Visa for China Citizens 2026

Chinese citizens need an e-Visa for Nigeria, applied for online via the Nigeria Immigration Service portal, with a fee of around USD 160 for a single-entry visa and mandatory yellow fever certification.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended stay, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Scanned passport bio-data page and recent digital photo (white background)
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate (mandatory for entry into Nigeria)
  • Proof of accommodation and return/onward flight itinerary
  • Proof of sufficient funds (bank statement)
  • Invitation letter from a Nigerian host or company for business visits
  • No biometrics are required at the online application stage, but visa pickup on arrival may involve a photo capture; travel health insurance is recommended

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa: single entry, valid for stays up to 90 days, approximate fee USD 160
  • Business e-Visa: single or multiple entry, up to 90 days, requires an invitation letter, fee ranges from USD 160 to USD 180 depending on entry type
  • Visa on Arrival (pre-approval required): for select categories such as some business travelers, where pre-approval is obtained online and the physical visa is issued at the airport

How to apply online

  • Apply through the Nigeria Immigration Service e-Visa portal (portal.immigration.gov.ng)
  • Steps: create an account, complete the online application form, upload passport scan, photo, yellow fever certificate, and supporting documents, pay the fee by card online
  • Processing of the pre-approval typically takes about 5 business days
  • Once approved, you receive a pre-approval letter which, for most Tourist/Business e-Visa categories, serves as your visa; some categories require picking up the final visa sticker at the airport on arrival
  • Present the pre-approval letter, passport, and yellow fever certificate to immigration on arrival at Lagos (Murtala Muhammed) or Abuja (Nnamdi Azikiwe) airport

  • Tourist e-Visa fee: approximately USD 160
  • Business e-Visa fee: approximately USD 160-180
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee, as the Nigerian e-Visa is processed directly through the government portal
  • Standard processing: about 5 business days for pre-approval
  • No official premium/priority service is published; applying 2-3 weeks before travel is advisable to account for potential delays

Tips for China travelers

  • Get your yellow fever certificate well before applying, since Nigeria strictly checks it both for the e-Visa application and again on arrival
  • Apply at least 2-3 weeks ahead of travel to allow for the 5-business-day processing plus any requests for additional documentation
  • Business travelers should ensure their Nigerian host's invitation letter includes company registration details, as incomplete invitation letters are a common rejection reason
  • Double-check whether your specific visa category requires airport pickup of a physical visa sticker versus using the pre-approval letter directly, since requirements vary by category
  • Extensions of stay are handled by the Nigeria Immigration Service office in-country and should be requested before the current visa validity expires
