Mongolia Visa for China Citizens 2026

China citizens can travel to Mongolia on an e-visa; apply online at https://evisa.mn; typical e-visa fee is USD 31 (plus portal service), processing 3-4 days, single-entry, stay up to 30 days.

What you need

  • Passport validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry; must have at least one blank visa page.
  • Specific forms: No offline forms are required; apply online at https://evisa.mn; no in-person biometrics for the e-visa.
  • Financial proof: Not required to submit bank statements; ensure you have funds to cover your stay.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Proof of accommodation in Mongolia (hotel booking or invitation letter) is recommended; return or onward travel evidence may be requested at border.
  • Photo spec: Digital photo 35 x 45 mm (3.5 x 4.5 cm); white background; 2 MB max; JPEG or PNG; clear full-face image; no sunglasses; head centered.
  • Biometrics: No in-person biometrics required for the e-visa; data is submitted online with the application.
  • Travel health insurance: Not required, but recommended to have travel health insurance covering Mongolia.

Visa types

  • Tourist e-visa (official name: Tourist e-visa): Validity up to 90 days from issue; stay up to 30 days per entry; single entry; approximate government fee USD 31.
  • Business e-visa (official name: Business e-visa): Validity up to 90 days from issue; stay up to 30 days per entry; single entry; approximate government fee USD 31.
  • Other categories: Student or Work e-visas are not available online as of current policy; these typically require embassy/consulate processing and may have different requirements.

How to apply online

  • How to apply online: Go to https://evisa.mn/ and click Apply for e-visa; select Tourist or Business e-visa.
  • Steps: Create or log in to your account; fill in applicant details (as per passport); upload required documents (passport data page scan, passport photo, travel itinerary or hotel/invitation details).
  • Payment: Pay the e-visa fee (USD 31) plus portal service fee (see Fees & processing time); payment accepted by major credit/debit cards (Visa/MasterCard); option to pay in USD or local currency on some cycles.
  • Approval: You will receive the approved e-visa as a PDF by email; print the e-visa PDF.
  • On arrival: Present the printed e-visa and your passport at border control; border officers will verify the document.
  • Changes: Ensure the details (name, date of birth, passport number) exactly match your passport; corrections after submission may require re-application.

  • Portal/service fee: USD 8.00; local currency approx 28,000;
  • Total estimated cost: USD 39.00; local currency approx 153,000.
  • Standard processing time: 3-4 working days.
  • Express/priority option: 24 hours available for an additional around USD 20; check https://evisa.mn for current express options and exact fees.
  • Delivery method: E-visa approved by email as a PDF; no physical sticker visa is issued.

Tips for China travelers

  • Apply well in advance: Aim to apply at least 7–14 days before travel to account for processing and potential delays.
  • Common rejection reasons for China applicants: Photo not meeting size/specifications; passport data mismatch (name/date of birth/spelling); passport copy unreadable; travel dates not aligning with planned entry; failure to provide sufficient accommodation or travel details; duplicate or incomplete applications.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy application: For Mongolia e-visa, use the online portal evisa.mn; there is no separate VFS/BLS processing for e-visas; consulate routes may be required for other visa types.
  • Travel advisories or bilateral notes: Check both Mongolian and Chinese government travel advisories before travel for up-to-date entry requirements and health/safety advisories.
  • Extension options inside Mongolia: Extensions may be possible at the General Department of Immigration in Ulaanbaatar for up to an additional period (often up to 30 days); apply before your current stay expires; extension may incur fee and is subject to approval.
