  • Biometrics: yes; biometric data (fingerprints and photo) must be submitted at a Visa Application Centre (China) as part of the application process.
  • Travel health insurance: recommended, not mandatory; provide evidence of travel health insurance that covers medical expenses and repatriation for the duration of stay (coverage amount not fixed publicly; aim for comprehensive international policy).
  • Supporting documents: invitation letters (if visiting family or business), employment or study letters as applicable, and any additional documents requested in the visa notice; translations should be certified if not in English or Irish.

  • Join family (D – Family): For family members of Irish citizens or residents; requires evidence of relationship and sponsor; fee: €100.

Application process
