Czech Republic Visa for China Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Chinese citizens need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa for the Czech Republic — apply via VFS Global in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou or Chengdu; fee EUR 90, processing 15 calendar days.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure date from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed and signed Schengen visa application form
  • One recent passport photo, 35x45mm, light grey or white background, no glasses glare
  • Travel medical insurance covering at least EUR 30,000 for the whole Schengen area, valid for the full trip
  • Proof of accommodation: hotel booking confirmation or invitation letter from a host in the Czech Republic
  • Round-trip flight reservation or itinerary
  • Bank statements for the last 6 months showing sufficient funds (around CNY 5,000+ per month recommended)
  • Proof of employment: employment certificate, leave approval letter, or business license if self-employed
  • Biometrics (10-digit fingerprints and photo) collected in person at the VFS Global application centre if you have not given Schengen biometrics in the past 59 months

Visa types

  • Airport Transit Visa (Type A): for transit through a Czech airport international zone only, single or double entry, fee EUR 80
  • Short-stay Schengen Visa (Type C): tourism, business, or family visits, valid for stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period, issued as single, double, or multiple entry, fee EUR 90
  • Long-stay National Visa (Type D): for stays over 90 days (study, work, long-term family reunification), requires a separate application at the Czech embassy's consular section, fee around EUR 100
  • Multiple-entry Schengen visas valid for 1, 3, or 5 years are available to applicants with a strong travel history to the Schengen area

How to apply

  • Book an appointment online through the VFS Global Czech Republic visa application centre (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, or Chengdu)
  • Complete the Schengen application form and gather all supporting documents
  • Attend the appointment in person to submit documents and biometrics
  • Pay the visa fee and the VFS service fee at the centre
  • Track your application status online; passports are usually returned via the centre or courier
  • Applicants with a confirmed Schengen visa history of 2+ visas in the past 3 years may qualify for multiple-entry visas valid up to 5 years
  • An interview is occasionally requested for first-time applicants or if documentation is unclear

Fees & processing time

  • Standard Schengen visa fee: EUR 90 (about CNY 700), children aged 6-12: EUR 45, under 6: free
  • VFS Global service fee: approximately CNY 220-280 on top of the visa fee
  • Standard processing time: 15 calendar days from the appointment date
  • Processing can extend to 30 days in individual cases, and up to 45 days in exceptional circumstances
  • Premium/priority appointment slots are sometimes available through VFS for an extra fee, but there is no official expedited visa service
  • Total realistic budget: CNY 900-1,100 including service fees

Tips for China travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before your intended travel date to allow for processing delays
  • Common rejection reasons: insufficient bank balance, unclear travel purpose, unconvincing ties to China (no stable job/property), inconsistent itinerary
  • Book a cancellable flight and hotel reservation before applying — don't purchase non-refundable tickets until the visa is approved
  • If the Czech Republic is not your main destination within the Schengen area, apply at the embassy of the country where you will spend the most days or first enter
  • Extensions inside the Czech Republic are only granted for serious humanitarian or force majeure reasons — plan your full itinerary before applying
