  • Photo specification:
  • Two recent passport photos (35x45 mm) with a white background; full-face view; no sunglasses or hats unless for medical reasons.
  • Biometrics:
  • Biometrics are required at the visa application center; submit fingerprints and photo unless a valid biometric record is still within the allowed period; check the center's rules.
  • Travel health insurance:
  • Travel medical insurance is required or strongly recommended; must cover at least 30,000 EUR for medical emergencies and repatriation; valid for the entire Schengen area; must cover the entire duration of stay.

  • 4. Submit the application in person with biometrics; pay the visa fee; attend interview if requested.
  • 5. Wait for processing and receive a decision; if approved, passport with visa sticker will be returned.
  • 6. Travel to Andorra using your Schengen visa; carry your travel itinerary and proof of accommodation.

Tips for China travelers

  • How far in advance to apply: apply at least 3-4 weeks before travel; ideally 1-3 months prior, especially during peak seasons.
  • Common rejection reasons for China applicants specifically: insufficient funds or travel health insurance; incomplete or inconsistent documents; lack of clear travel itinerary or ties to home country; mismatched dates or purpose; failure to provide biometrics when required; prior visa refusals.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy application: using the official visa centers (VFS Global or TLScontact) is recommended for biometrics collection and document submission; direct embassy processing is less common.
  • Travel advisories or bilateral notes: check Andorra government guidance (govern.ad) and your own government's travel advisories; ensure passport validity and that you meet Schengen entry requirements.
  • Extension options inside Andorra: short-stay Schengen visas cannot be extended in Andorra; extensions must be sought from the issuing Schengen state before expiry; otherwise you may face overstays; for longer stays, apply for a new visa from the issuing Schengen state before current visa expires.
