What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry, with at least one blank page
  • Digital passport-style photo, white background, taken within the last 6 months
  • Scanned copy of the passport bio-data page
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host's Emirates ID/tenancy details)
  • Travel health insurance is recommended and required by some sponsors
  • Biometrics (fingerprint and photo) are collected on arrival at UAE immigration

Visa types

  • 30-day Tourist e-Visa: single entry, extendable once for 30 days, approx. AED 350-450 (about USD 95-125)
  • 60-day Tourist e-Visa: single or multiple entry, approx. AED 600-750 (about USD 165-205)
  • Multiple-entry 5-year Tourist Visa: available to eligible applicants meeting financial criteria, longer validity with 90-day stays per entry
  • Business Visa: for commercial visits, arranged through a UAE-based sponsoring company

How to apply online

  • Apply via the official UAE government portal at u.ae, or through your airline (e.g. Emirates, Etihad) or a UAE hotel, which can sponsor the visa as part of your booking
  • Steps: create an account or use the airline/hotel's visa service, complete the application form, upload your passport scan and photo, upload flight and hotel details, pay the fee online, and submit
  • Fee: approx. AED 350-450 (about USD 95-125) for a standard 30-day single-entry e-Visa, paid online by card
  • Processing time: typically 3-5 business days
  • Approval arrives as a PDF e-Visa via email; print it and present it with your passport at check-in and on arrival

Fees & processing time

  • e-Visa fee: approx. AED 350-450 (about USD 95-125) for 30 days; AED 600-750 for 60 days
  • Service fee if booked via airline/hotel: often bundled into the visa cost quoted by the sponsor, generally no major markup
  • Total cost estimate: USD 95-210 depending on validity and entries chosen
  • Standard processing time: 3-5 business days
  • Express processing is sometimes available through certain airlines/agents for an additional fee, reducing turnaround to 24-48 hours

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Booking your flight with Emirates or Etihad often includes a bundled visa service, which can be simpler than applying independently on u.ae
  • Apply at least a week before travel to allow for processing and any document corrections
  • Common rejection reasons: mismatched names between the passport and flight booking, or a low-resolution passport scan
  • Since the UAE has no diplomatic mission-based visa requirement route for Zambia (it's fully e-Visa), keep both digital and printed copies of your approval for immigration checks
  • Extensions of the 30-day visa can be done online through the UAE's ICP smart services portal before the visa expires
