Turkey Visa for Zambia Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Zambian citizens are not eligible for Turkey's e-Visa and must apply for a sticker visa through the Turkish Embassy in Lusaka or VFS Global, costing around USD 60 with standard processing of about 15 business days.

Guide last updated September 28, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the visa's expiry date, with at least two blank pages
  • Completed online visa application form (printed and signed)
  • One recent passport photo, biometric standard, white background
  • Return or onward flight ticket and full itinerary
  • Hotel reservation covering the whole stay
  • Bank statement for the last 3 months showing sufficient funds
  • Travel health insurance valid in Turkey and the Schengen area if transiting
  • Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) are collected in person at the visa application center

Visa types

  • Tourist Visa: single entry, valid for a stay of up to 90 days within 180 days, approx. USD 60
  • Business Visa: requires an invitation letter from a Turkish company, similar fee and validity to the Tourist Visa
  • Student Visa: requires acceptance letter from a Turkish institution, arranged with the Turkish Embassy directly
  • Work Visa: requires employer sponsorship and a work permit application through the Turkish Ministry of Labour

How to apply

  • Note: although Turkey operates an e-Visa system at evisa.gov.tr, Zambian passport holders are not on the eligible list and must apply for a sticker visa in person
  • Apply through the Turkish Embassy in Lusaka, or via the nearest VFS Global visa application center (Pretoria, South Africa, for many applicants) if Lusaka does not process visas directly
  • Steps: complete the online pre-application form on the Turkish MFA e-visa/embassy site, book an appointment, submit documents and biometrics in person, pay the fee, and collect your passport once the visa is issued
  • Fee: approx. USD 60 for a standard tourist visa, payable in cash or card at the application center
  • Standard processing time: about 15 business days; times can vary depending on embassy workload
  • An interview is occasionally required for first-time applicants or those with incomplete documentation

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: approx. USD 60 for a single-entry tourist visa
  • VFS/service center fee (if applicable): an additional service charge of around USD 20-30 on top of the consular fee
  • Total cost estimate: USD 80-90
  • Standard processing time: about 15 business days
  • Express/priority processing may be available at VFS centers for an extra fee, typically reducing time to 5-7 business days

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Do not attempt to apply through the e-Visa portal, as Zambian applicants will be rejected or redirected to the embassy route
  • Apply at least a month before travel to account for appointment availability and the 15-business-day processing time
  • Common rejection reasons: incomplete bank statements, hotel bookings that don't match the travel dates, or missing travel insurance
  • Check whether the Turkish Embassy in Lusaka accepts visa applications directly, as this can save a trip to South Africa
  • Extensions of stay are generally not permitted; plan your full itinerary within the 90-day validity
