Guide last updated September 28, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry, with at least one blank page
  • Digital passport photo, taken within the last 6 months, plain background
  • Scanned copy of the passport bio-data page
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation in Togo (hotel booking or host invitation)
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for entry
  • Travel health/medical insurance is recommended

Visa types

  • Short-stay e-Visa (Tourism/Business): single entry, valid for a stay of up to 90 days, approx. EUR 30-50 depending on duration selected
  • Multiple-entry e-Visa: available for frequent travelers/business visitors, higher fee, valid up to 90 days per entry
  • Long-stay Visa (Work/Residence): requires a local sponsor or employer and must be arranged with Togolese authorities before travel

How to apply online

  • Apply at the official portal, visa.gouv.tg, ideally 5-7 days before travel
  • Steps: register on the portal, fill in the application form, upload your passport scan and photo, upload flight and accommodation details, pay the fee online, and submit
  • Fee: approx. EUR 30-50 (roughly USD 35-55) for a single-entry short-stay e-Visa, paid by card during the online application
  • Processing time: typically 72 hours, though it can extend to 5 business days during busy periods
  • Approval is emailed as a PDF e-Visa; print it and present it together with your passport on arrival at Lome-Tokoin International Airport or a land border

Fees & processing time

  • e-Visa fee: approx. EUR 30-50 (about USD 35-55), depending on validity chosen
  • No separate agency/service fee since the application is made directly on the government portal
  • Total cost estimate: USD 35-60 including possible card processing charges
  • Standard processing time: about 72 hours
  • An expedited option is not officially advertised; applying at least a week ahead is recommended to avoid delays

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Togo has no embassy in Zambia, so the online e-Visa portal is the only realistic route; allow extra time in case of portal downtime
  • Common rejection reasons include an illegible passport scan, mismatched names between the flight ticket and passport, or missing yellow fever certificate upload
  • Keep both a digital and printed copy of your approved e-Visa, since it is checked at the airport before boarding
  • If you need help, the Togolese Ministry of Foreign Affairs handles e-Visa queries by email listed on the portal, as there is no consular office for East/Southern Africa
  • Extensions inside Togo are handled by the Direction Generale de la Documentation Nationale in Lome
