  • Confirmed round-trip flight itinerary
  • Hotel booking or invitation letter for the full duration of stay
  • Digital passport photo, 3.5cm x 4.5cm, white background, uploaded with the application

How to apply online

  • Apply via the official Korea visa portal at visa.go.kr, or through the nearest Korean embassy/consulate accredited for Zambia if online lodging is unavailable
  • Steps: register an account, complete the application, upload the passport bio page, photo, and supporting documents, then pay the fee online or via the accepting mission
  • Fee: approx USD 40 (tourist) to USD 60 (business), payable by card online or in local currency at a mission counter
  • Standard processing time: 5-10 working days
  • Approval is issued as an e-Visa notice or a visa sticker/stamp depending on the lodging channel; carry a printed copy when traveling

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: approx USD 40-60 depending on visa type
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee for direct portal applications; missions handling paper applications may add local courier costs
  • Total cost estimate: USD 45-70 including incidental charges
  • Standard processing: 5-10 working days
  • Express processing: not generally offered; apply early to avoid delays

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before your planned travel date to allow for processing and any requests for extra documents
  • Common rejection reasons: insufficient bank balance, weak travel history, unclear purpose of visit, unverifiable accommodation details
  • Since Zambia does not have a Korean diplomatic mission, applications are typically routed through a neighboring country's Korean embassy (e.g. Kenya or South Africa) or the online portal where available
  • Provide a clear cover letter explaining the purpose and itinerary of the trip to strengthen the application
  • Extensions of stay must be requested at a local immigration office in South Korea before the visa expires
