Guide last updated September 28, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of arrival, with 2 blank pages
  • Completed Solomon Islands visitor visa application form
  • Proof of sufficient funds (bank statement, minimum around USD 1,500 recommended)
  • Confirmed return or onward air ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter from a host in Solomon Islands)
  • Passport-size photo, 45mm x 35mm, plain white background
  • Biometrics: not routinely collected for paper visa applications; some agents may request fingerprints on arrival
  • Travel health insurance: strongly recommended, covering medical evacuation

Visa types

  • Visitor/Tourist Visa: single entry, valid up to 3 months, max stay 3 months, fee approx USD 70
  • Business Visa: single or multiple entry, valid up to 6 months, max stay 1 month per visit, fee approx USD 100
  • Transit Visa: for stays under 24-72 hours connecting through Honiara, fee approx USD 30

How to apply

  • Zambia has no Solomon Islands embassy, so applications are lodged via an accredited visa agent (see visabureau.com/solomon-islands) or by post to the Solomon Islands Ministry of Immigration in Honiara
  • Steps: complete the application form, gather supporting documents, submit with the visa fee by bank transfer or agent payment, then await a decision by email or courier return of the passport
  • Fee: approx USD 70 (visitor visa), payable in USD or local currency equivalent via the agent
  • Standard processing: 5-10 working days; agent service fees add USD 40-60 on top of the government fee
  • No interview required for standard tourist applications

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: approx SBD 600 / USD 70 for a single-entry visitor visa
  • Agent/handling fee: USD 40-60 if using a visa service rather than applying directly
  • Total cost estimate: USD 110-130 including handling
  • Standard processing: 5-10 working days from receipt of complete application
  • Express processing: some agents offer 2-3 day service for an extra USD 30-50

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before travel to allow for postal transit of the passport
  • Common rejection reasons: insufficient proof of funds, no return ticket, incomplete accommodation details
  • Using a recognized visa agent is usually faster and more reliable than mailing directly to Honiara given the lack of a local mission
  • Check current entry advisories with the Solomon Islands Ministry of Foreign Affairs before booking travel
  • Extensions of up to 3 months are possible through the Immigration Division in Honiara before the initial visa expires
