  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory — Zambia is a listed endemic country
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • Visa fee payable in CFA francs, euros or USD cash
  • Biometrics (photo and fingerprints) captured at the immigration counter

Visa types

  • Visitor visa on arrival: single entry, up to 90 days, fee approx. XOF 50,000 (about US$85)

  • Pay the fee in cash (CFA francs, euros or USD)
  • Have fingerprints and photo taken
  • Receive the visa stamp; processing takes about 15-30 minutes depending on queue length

Fees & processing time

  • Visa on arrival fee: approx. XOF 50,000 (about US$85), payable in cash
  • No separate service fee
  • Total cost: approximately US$85
  • Processing: on the spot, roughly 15-30 minutes
  • No express lane, though arriving on lighter flights reduces wait time

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Carry your yellow fever certificate visibly — it is checked before the visa counter and missing it is the top reason for delay or refusal
  • Bring exact change in CFA francs or small euro/USD notes, as the counter often lacks change
  • There is no Senegalese mission in Zambia, so pre-trip questions go through the Senegalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Extensions beyond 90 days must be requested in Dakar well before expiry to avoid overstay fines
