What you need

  • Passport valid at least 6 months from date of entry
  • Digital passport-style photo (plain white background, no headwear except religious)
  • Confirmed round-trip flight booking
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Bank statement recommended, though not always requested
  • Mandatory travel health insurance bundled into the e-Visa fee
  • No in-person biometrics for the e-Visa; a facial photo is taken at the border e-gate on arrival
  • Women no longer need a male guardian for tourist entry

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa: multiple entry, valid 1 year from issue, maximum 90 days stay per visit, fee approx. SAR 463 (about US$125) including insurance
  • Business e-Visa: applied for via the separate Saudi Business visa portal, invitation letter required
  • Umrah/Hajj visas: issued through dedicated portals, not covered by the standard tourist e-Visa

How to apply online

  • Apply at the official Saudi eVisa portal at visa.mofa.gov.sa any time before travel
  • Register and complete the application with passport and personal details
  • Upload the passport photo page and photograph
  • Pay the fee online by card
  • Receive the approved e-Visa electronically linked to your passport (no printed sticker needed), usually within minutes to 3 business days

Fees & processing time

  • e-Visa fee: approx. SAR 463 (about US$125), bundling the visa fee and mandatory insurance
  • No additional VFS/service fee since applied directly online
  • Standard processing: typically same-day to 3 business days
  • No separate express tier since normal processing is already fast

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Apply from a stable internet connection, since the portal occasionally times out on first-time African-issued card payments — retry with a different card if declined
  • Ensure the passport photo meets the strict background/headwear rules, or the application is rejected
  • The Saudi Embassy in Lusaka can assist with in-person queries if the online portal has issues
  • The e-Visa allows multiple entries over a year, useful if combining with separate Umrah travel
