Russia Visa for Zambia Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Zambian citizens need an ordinary consular visa for Russia — apply through the Russian embassy's kdmid.ru e-visa/appointment portal with an invitation (tourist voucher or letter); fee around USD 50, processing 10–20 business days.

Guide last updated September 27, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the visa's expiry date, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed Russian visa application form (submitted via the electronic visa application system)
  • Recent passport-style photo, white background
  • A visa support document — a tourist voucher/confirmation from a licensed Russian tour operator/hotel, or an official invitation for business or private visits
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay
  • Confirmed round-trip flight ticket
  • Travel medical insurance valid in Russia for the full duration of stay
  • Biometrics (fingerprints) are typically collected in person at the visa application centre

Visa types

  • Tourist visa — single or double entry, valid for a stay of up to 30 days, requiring a tourist voucher from an accredited Russian travel agency or hotel
  • Business visa — single, double, or multiple entry, requiring an official invitation from a Russian company, valid up to 90 days per entry within a longer validity period
  • Private visit visa — for visiting family or friends, requiring an invitation processed through Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs
  • A separate unified electronic visa exists for select nationalities and regions, but Zambian citizens generally need to apply for the standard consular visa through an embassy or VFS-style application centre

How to apply

  • Complete the online visa application form through the electronic system linked from the Russian embassy's website (electronic-visa.kdmid.ru covers appointment booking and application submission)
  • Obtain your visa support document (tourist voucher or invitation letter) before applying
  • Book an appointment at the Russian embassy or consulate serving Zambia
  • Submit the printed application, passport, photo, invitation/voucher, and proof of insurance and funds
  • Pay the consular fee as instructed
  • Collect your passport with the visa once processing is complete

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist/business visa consular fee: approximately USD 50 for standard processing
  • Urgent/expedited processing, where offered, typically costs more, around USD 100–150
  • Standard processing time: 10–20 business days depending on visa category and current embassy workload
  • Expedited processing, where available, can reduce this to 3–4 business days

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Arrange your visa support document (tourist voucher or invitation letter) well before your embassy appointment, as applications cannot proceed without it
  • Apply at least a month ahead of travel given the multi-step process and potential embassy backlog
  • Common rejection reasons include an invalid or unverifiable invitation, insufficient insurance coverage, or inconsistent travel dates between the voucher and application
  • Keep both digital and printed copies of your invitation, insurance policy, and flight itinerary while travelling
  • Register your visa with local authorities if staying longer than 7 business days, as required by Russian migration rules — your hotel can usually assist with this
