Kosovo Visa for Zambia Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Zambian citizens need a sticker visa to enter Kosovo, applied for through the nearest Kosovo diplomatic mission or, where none exists, alongside a Letter of Recommendation from Kosovo's Ministry of Internal Affairs; fee is around 60 EUR with processing of about 10-15 business days.

Guide last updated September 27, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended stay, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed Kosovo visa application form
  • Two recent passport photos meeting Schengen-style specifications
  • Invitation letter from a host in Kosovo, or confirmed hotel booking
  • Return or onward travel ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay
  • Travel health insurance valid for the Schengen area/Kosovo, minimum coverage of 30,000 EUR
  • Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) collected at the diplomatic mission handling the application

Visa types

  • Type C short-stay visa - single or multiple entry, valid for up to 90 days within a 180-day period, for tourism, business, or family visits
  • Type D long-stay visa - for work, study, or family reunification exceeding 90 days, arranged through Kosovo's Ministry of Internal Affairs

How to apply

  • Since Kosovo has no embassy in Zambia, applicants typically need a Letter of Recommendation issued by Kosovo's Ministry of Internal Affairs before applying at the nearest accepting mission (commonly in a neighboring country or a Kosovo embassy in Europe)
  • Submit the visa application, photos, passport, and supporting documents in person once the recommendation letter is obtained
  • Interviews may be requested, particularly for first-time applicants
  • Approval is stamped directly into the passport
  • The total process, including the recommendation letter, commonly takes 4-6 weeks door to door

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: around 60 EUR for a short-stay visa
  • No separate VFS fee, since Kosovo does not operate a visa outsourcing network as extensive as Schengen states
  • Total estimated cost including courier and any agent fees: 80-120 USD
  • Standard processing once the application is lodged: 10-15 business days
  • No express service is generally available for this route

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Start the process early - obtaining the Letter of Recommendation before the visa application can itself take several weeks
  • Common rejection reasons include an unclear purpose of visit or insufficient proof of ties to Zambia (employment letter, property, family)
  • Because Kosovo is not part of the Schengen area, a Schengen visa does not grant entry to Kosovo, and vice versa
  • Check with Kosovo's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (mfa-ks.net) for the current list of missions authorized to issue visas for Zambian applicants
  • Extensions inside Kosovo are handled by the Department of Citizenship, Asylum and Migration
