Iraq Visa for Zambia Citizens 2026

e-Visa / eTA

Zambian citizens can apply for an Iraqi e-Visa online before travel through the country's official immigration e-visa portal.

Guide last updated September 27, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • A digital passport photo and scanned passport bio page for the online application
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking) in Iraq
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • A sponsor or hotel confirmation letter, required for some e-visa categories
  • Travel health insurance is recommended
  • No biometrics required online; fingerprints and photo are typically taken on arrival

Visa types

  • e-Visa (tourist): single entry, valid for a stay of up to 60 days, fee around USD 75-77, processed through evisa.gov.iq
  • e-Visa (business): similar validity, requires a sponsor letter from an Iraqi company, fee comparable to the tourist e-visa
  • Visa on arrival for select nationalities without e-visa access is not typically available to Zambian passport holders, who should use the e-visa route
  • Kurdistan Region entry: travelers arriving via Erbil or Sulaymaniyah airports may receive a separate regional entry permit valid only for the Kurdistan Region

How to apply online

  • Apply via the official portal evisa.gov.iq
  • Steps: register an account, complete the application form with passport and travel details, upload the required documents, and pay the fee online by card
  • Processing is typically completed within 3-5 business days, and the approved e-visa is sent by email as a PDF
  • Print the e-visa approval to present with your passport at the port of entry, where it is verified and a passport stamp issued
  • No embassy visit is required for eligible applicants

Fees & processing time

  • e-Visa fee: approximately USD 75-77 for a 60-day single-entry tourist e-visa
  • No separate service fee when applying directly through the official portal
  • Total estimated cost: USD 75-80
  • Standard processing time: 3-5 business days
  • No official expedited option; apply at least a week before travel to allow for processing

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Use only the official evisa.gov.iq portal - unofficial sites may charge higher fees or provide invalid documents
  • Check current security advisories for Iraq closely before finalizing travel plans, as conditions vary significantly by region
  • If traveling specifically to the Kurdistan Region (Erbil/Sulaymaniyah), confirm whether a separate regional entry permit applies
  • Keep printed copies of your e-visa and hotel booking, as these are commonly requested at the port of entry
  • Business travelers should secure a sponsor letter from their host organization well in advance, as this often affects the speed of e-visa approval
