India Visa for Zambia Citizens 2026

e-Visa / eTA

Zambian citizens can apply for an Indian e-Visa online before travel, avoiding the need to visit an embassy in person.

Guide last updated September 27, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival, with at least 2 blank pages
  • A digital passport-style photo (white background, 2x2 inches / 5x5 cm) uploaded during the online application
  • A scanned copy of the passport bio page
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation in India
  • A valid email address to receive the e-Visa approval
  • No biometrics required for the e-Visa; biometrics may be captured on arrival for some categories
  • Travel health insurance is recommended but not mandatory

Visa types

  • e-Tourist visa: single, double, or multiple entry, validity of 30 days, 1 year, or 5 years depending on the option chosen, fee from about USD 25 for the 30-day option
  • e-Business visa: multiple entry, valid 1 year, fee around USD 80, for meetings, trade, and business setup visits
  • e-Medical visa and e-Medical Attendant visa: for treatment in India and for one accompanying attendant
  • e-Conference visa: single entry for attending conferences in India

How to apply online

  • Apply through the official portal at indianvisaonline.gov.in
  • Steps: create an application, fill in personal and passport details, upload the photo and passport scan, select visa type and duration, and pay the fee online by card
  • Processing is typically completed within 3-5 business days, after which the approved e-Visa is emailed as a PDF
  • Print the e-Visa approval and carry it along with your passport; it is checked and stamped on arrival at designated Indian airports/seaports
  • No physical visa sticker or embassy visit is required for eligible applicants

Fees & processing time

  • e-Tourist visa (30 days): approximately USD 25; e-Tourist visa (1 year): approximately USD 40; e-Business visa: approximately USD 80
  • No separate service fee when applying directly through the official portal
  • Total estimated cost: USD 25-80 depending on visa type and duration
  • Standard processing time: 3-5 business days, though it's recommended to apply at least a week before travel
  • No official expedited option beyond the standard timeline, so early application is the best way to avoid delays

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Apply online at least 4-7 days before your trip and confirm your arrival airport/seaport is on India's approved e-Visa entry points list
  • A common delay reason is a blurry photo or passport scan - ensure both meet the exact size and quality requirements before uploading
  • Only use the official government portal (indianvisaonline.gov.in) - third-party sites charging extra service fees are not required
  • Keep both a printed and digital copy of your e-Visa approval, as immigration counters will ask to see it alongside your passport
  • If you plan to extend your stay or change visa category, this must be done through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in India, not online
