  • Present your passport, photo, and yellow fever certificate
  • Pay the fee in USD cash (card accepted at some counters)
  • Visa is typically stamped within 15-30 minutes

Fees & processing time

  • 30-day single entry: approximately USD 52
  • 90-day single entry: approximately USD 72
  • E-visa carries the same government fee, no extra service charge
  • On-arrival processing: 15-30 minutes at the airport counter
  • E-visa processing: 1-3 business days
  • No formal express option; applying online ahead of time is the fastest route

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Apply for the e-visa online 3-5 days before departure to avoid on-arrival queues, especially around Ethiopian New Year (September) and Timkat (January)
  • Carry a printed and digital copy of your yellow fever certificate - officers may deny boarding without it
  • Common e-visa rejection reasons: blurry passport scans, mismatched names between booking and passport
  • Extensions of up to 30 additional days can be requested at the Immigration and Citizenship Service head office in Addis Ababa before the visa expires
