  • Business visa: requires an invitation letter from a Danish host company, same fee
  • Visit visa (family/friends): requires a formal invitation and proof of relationship

How to apply

  • Denmark has no embassy in Zambia, so applications go through the Danish embassy in Pretoria or an authorized VFS Global visa application centre

  • Pay the visa fee at the application centre
  • Processing takes up to 15 calendar days
  • The approved visa is affixed as a Schengen sticker in the passport

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: EUR 80 (approx USD 85)
  • VFS service fee: approx EUR 25-30
  • Total estimate: USD 110-130
  • Standard processing: 15 calendar days
  • No official express track for short-stay Schengen visas

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Apply at least 4-6 weeks ahead, allowing for travel time to the covering embassy
  • Common rejection reasons: vague travel purpose, insufficient funds shown, inconsistent dates between flight and hotel bookings
  • A Danish Schengen visa is valid for travel throughout the Schengen area
  • Greenland and the Faroe Islands have separate entry rules; check if your itinerary includes them
  • Extensions are rarely granted except for serious unforeseen circumstances
