  • Completed and signed Schengen visa application form
  • 2 recent biometric photos, 35x45mm, plain white background
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Travel medical insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 coverage valid for the whole Schengen area
  • Bank statements or sponsor letter showing sufficient funds
  • Biometrics (fingerprints and digital photo) captured in person at the visa application centre

Visa types

  • Schengen Type C Tourist visa - single or multiple entry, up to 90 days within a 180-day period, fee EUR 90
  • Schengen Type C Business visa - same fee, requires a company invitation letter
  • National Type D visa - for stays over 90 days (study or work), fee approximately EUR 75-120, applied for directly at the embassy

How to apply

  • Croatia has no embassy in Zambia, so applications are usually routed through the Croatian Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa, or a VFS Global Schengen visa centre
  • Book a biometrics appointment in advance
  • Submit the application form and supporting documents in person
  • Standard processing is 15 calendar days, extendable up to 30-60 days in complex cases
  • Passport is returned by collection or courier once a decision is made

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: EUR 90 for adults, EUR 45 for children 6-11, free under 6
  • VFS Global service fee (if applying through a visa centre): approximately EUR 25-30
  • Total estimated cost: EUR 90-120
  • Standard processing time: 15 calendar days
  • No dedicated express service for tourist visas

Tips for Zambia travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks ahead to allow for travel to the handling mission and courier time
  • Common rejection reasons: weak proof of funds, no travel insurance, unclear trip purpose, insufficient ties to Zambia
  • Book your visa centre appointment early since the Pretoria mission covers several countries
  • A Croatian-issued Schengen visa allows travel to all Schengen member states during its validity
