What you need

  • Passport validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry and have at least 1 blank page for visa stamping.
  • Specific forms: No paper forms are required. Apply online via the official Zambia e-visa portal (https://evisa.zambiaimmigration.gov.zm/); there is no DS-160 or VAF1A for this online system.
  • Financial proof: There is no fixed minimum funds requirement stated for the online e-visa. You should be prepared to demonstrate sufficient funds if requested on entry. As a guideline, carry enough funds for your stay (for example USD 60–100 per day).
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Have hotel or other accommodation confirmations and a return/onward ticket or evidence of onward travel; border officers may request.
  • Photo spec: Upload a passport-style photo that is 35x45 mm with a plain white background, in color, taken within the last 6 months.
  • Biometrics: Yes. For e-visa, biometric data is collected at the point of entry (fingerprints and photo) if required by border authorities; there is no separate biometrics appointment for the online visa.
  • Travel health insurance: Not mandatory for visa issuance, but strongly recommended to cover medical costs during your stay.

How to apply online

Once approved, you will receive an e-visa authorization letter by email; print a copy or display on your mobile to present at entry; border authorities will verify the visa in the system.

Tips for United Kingdom travelers
