What you need

  • Passport validity: your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Uzbekistan, and you should have at least 1 blank page.
  • Specific forms: there is no separate paper form for UK citizens; apply online using the official e-visa portal at https://e-visa.gov.uz/; no DS-160 or similar form.
  • Financial proof: no mandatory bank statement or proof of funds is required for the Tourist e-Visa; carry sufficient funds to cover your stay.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: provide proof of accommodation in Uzbekistan (hotel booking or address where you will stay) and a return or onward ticket if available.
  • Photo spec: one recent color photograph, 35x45 mm, white background, head centered, no sunglasses, not older than 6 months.
  • Biometrics: no separate pre-submission biometric appointment is required for the e-Visa; border authorities may collect biometrics if requested.
  • Travel health insurance: recommended but not mandatory for the e-Visa.

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa (Electronic Visa Tourism): Official name: Electronic Visa (e-visa) Tourism; validity: up to 90 days from issue; maximum stay per visit: 30 days; entry: single; approximate fee: USD 20.
  • Business e-Visa (Electronic Visa Business): Official name: Electronic Visa (e-visa) Business; validity: up to 90 days from issue; maximum stay per visit: 30 days; entry: single; approximate fee: USD 30.
  • Student visa (through embassy): Official name: Uzbekistan Student visa; typically issued via Uzbek Embassy/Consulate; validity commonly up to 1 year with multiple entries depending on the permit; approximate fee: USD 60–150 (varies by case).
  • Work visa (through embassy): Official name: Uzbekistan Work visa; validity and entries depend on the permit issued by the Migration Service; approximate fee: USD 80–200 (varies by case).
  • Transit/other long-term visas: available via the Uzbek Embassy; details and fees vary; consult the MFA Uzbekistan or Uzbek Embassy in London for latest options.
  • Note: For UK citizens, e-Visa is available for tourism and business; Student, Work and other long-term visas are handled via embassy/consulate routes.

Application process

  • How to apply online:
  • Go to https://e-visa.gov.uz/ and create your account if you do not already have one.
  • Choose the purpose of travel (Tourist or Business) and complete the online application with accurate personal data matching your passport.
  • Upload the required documents: scanned passport data page, your photo (as specified), and any supporting documents requested for the chosen category (e.g., hotel booking for tourism, invitation/letter if required for business).
  • Pay the e-Visa fee online with a credit or debit card; the portal will display the amount in USD (Tourist USD 20; Business USD 30) and show the local currency equivalent during payment.
  • After submission, you will receive an order number and in most cases an email notification when the e-Visa is approved.
  • If approved, print the e-Visa approval notice (and the e-Visa number) and present it at Uzbek border control along with your passport.
  • Processing time: typically 3–4 working days for standard service; expedited processing may be available at an additional fee (check the portal for current options).
  • Approval arrival: you will receive the e-Visa via the email address used in the application and it will also appear in your e-visa.gov.uz account.

Fees & processing time

  • e-Visa Tourist: USD 20; local currency equivalent varies with rate (approx. 230,000 UZS at 1 USD ≈ 11,500 UZS).
  • e-Visa Business: USD 30; local currency equivalent varies (approx. 345,000 UZS).
  • VFS/BLS service fees: not applicable for direct online e-Visa applications; if you use a visa service, additional handling charges may apply.
  • Total cost: e-Visa fee plus any card processing charges or service fees if using a third-party service.
  • Standard processing time: 3–4 working days.
  • Express/priority option: sometimes available via the official portal with an additional fee; check the current options on e-visa.gov.uz for exact times and prices.
  • Notes: fees and processing times are set by Uzbekistan authorities and can change; always verify on the official portal before paying.

Tips for United Kingdom travelers

  • Apply well in advance: aim to apply at least 7–14 days before your travel date; if possible, 2–3 weeks to accommodate any delays.
  • Common rejection reasons (UK applicants): mismatched passport data (name, date of birth, passport number), passport validity not met (less than 6 months remaining), photo not compliant (wrong size/background), missing hotel/address in Uzbekistan, or incorrect travel dates/information.
  • e-Visa vs embassy routes: the e-Visa (online) is the most convenient route for UK citizens; sticker visas or long-term visas require an in-person application at the Uzbek Embassy/Consulate and take longer.
  • Travel advisories: check the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) travel advice for Uzbekistan and any bilateral advisories; also verify current entry requirements on the Uzbek MFA site (mfa.uz) prior to travel.
