Tips for United Kingdom travelers

  • Apply well in advance: Start your e-visa application at least 2–3 weeks before travel to account for processing and potential document checks.
  • Common rejection reasons for UK applicants: Incomplete or inconsistent travel purpose; passport data mismatch; insufficient proof of accommodation or return ticket; passport validity less than 6 months; missing or unclear documents.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy application: South Sudan e-visa is applied online via the official portal; there is no separate VFS/BLS submission for the e-visa; use the portal unless you are pursuing a different visa route through an embassy.
  • Travel advisories and notes: Check UK government travel advisories for South Sudan; the country is rated high risk; ensure you have appropriate health and security precautions and travel insurance.
  • Extension options: E-visas extensions are not typically granted; if you need a longer stay contact South Sudan immigration authorities or plan a new e-visa prior to expiry; some categories may allow renewals by leaving and re-entering, subject to approval.
