What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years
  • A return or onward ticket
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for the stay (around EUR 50-70 per day is commonly cited as a reference, though rarely checked for UK travellers)
  • Travel health insurance covering the Schengen area is strongly recommended
  • No advance visa, photo or biometric submission is required for short stays

Visa types

  • No separate Slovak visa exists for short stays by UK citizens - entry is governed by the Schengen short-stay rules
  • Longer stays, work or study require a national visa or residence permit applied for through Slovak diplomatic missions or the Foreign Police before or shortly after arrival
