What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay.
  • Completed online e-Visa application form with a scan of your passport bio-data page.
  • Recent passport-style digital photograph (white background).
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking, or host's CNIC/invitation letter if visiting family or friends).
  • Proof of onward/return flight booking.
  • Bank statement or proof of sufficient funds for the trip.
  • Biometrics are not collected in advance but may be taken on arrival at some airports.

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa: single entry, valid for use within 90 days of issue, permits a stay of up to 30 days (extendable), fee around USD 35.
  • Business e-Visa: requires an invitation letter from a Pakistani company, single or multiple entry options, fee around USD 60.
  • Visit (family) e-Visa: for visiting relatives, requires an attested invitation letter, similar fee structure to tourist visas.
  • Group tourist visa: available for guided tour groups arranged by approved operators, often with simplified documentation.

How to apply online

  • Register and apply through Pakistan's official online visa portal, uploading your passport scan, photo, and supporting documents.
  • Pay the visa fee online by credit/debit card in USD.
  • Processing typically takes 7-10 working days, though it can extend to 15 days during peak season.
  • Approval is emailed as a PDF e-Visa, which you print and present along with your passport on arrival; no physical stamp is needed in advance.
  • Immigration at the port of entry stamps your passport based on the approved e-Visa.

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist e-Visa fee: approx. USD 35.
  • Business e-Visa fee: approx. USD 60.
  • No separate service/VFS fee, as the system is run directly by the Pakistani government.
  • Standard processing: 7-10 working days; allow up to 15 days to be safe.
  • There is no official expedited/priority service for most applicants, so apply well ahead of travel.

Tips for United Kingdom travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before travel to allow for processing delays.
  • Double-check the spelling of your name and passport number on the application - mismatches are a common cause of rejection.
  • If visiting family, ensure your host's invitation letter is properly registered and attested, as incomplete invitation documents are a leading cause of refusal.
  • Carry a printed copy of your e-Visa approval, as not all immigration counters have reliable internet access to verify digitally.
  • Extensions of stay beyond 30 days can be requested in-country at the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports.
