Myanmar Visa for United Kingdom Citizens 2026

UK citizens must obtain an e-Visa before travelling to Myanmar; apply online via the official portal for a single-entry 28-day tourist stay.

What you need

  • Passport valid at least 6 months from the entry date, with at least one blank page
  • Digital passport-style photo for the online application
  • Confirmed onward or return flight
  • Proof of accommodation for the full stay
  • Printed approved e-Visa letter
  • Travel insurance recommended but not mandatory

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa: single entry, 28 days, around USD 50
  • Business e-Visa: single entry, 70 days, around USD 70, requires an invitation letter from a Myanmar company
  • No visa-free or visa-on-arrival option exists for UK passport holders

How to apply online

  • Apply at evisa.moip.gov.mm and create an account
  • Complete the application form and upload your passport bio page and photo
  • Pay by credit or debit card (USD 50 tourist, USD 70 business)
  • Standard processing takes 3-5 business days, sometimes longer
  • Approval letter arrives by email as a PDF; print it and present it with your passport at immigration
  • Valid for entry only via Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyidaw international airports, not all land borders

  • Tourist e-Visa: around USD 50, non-refundable
  • Business e-Visa: around USD 70, non-refundable
  • Standard processing: 3 business days, allow up to 5-7 days during busy periods; no official expedited service

Tips for United Kingdom travelers

  • Apply at least 1-2 weeks before departure to allow for processing delays
  • The e-Visa is single-entry only; leaving and re-entering requires a fresh application
  • Check UK FCDO travel advice regularly, as regional conditions can restrict travel within Myanmar
  • Extensions beyond 28 days are handled at the Yangon Immigration Office and are not guaranteed
  • Keep several printed copies of your e-Visa approval letter
