UK citizens can enter Morocco visa-free for tourism or business for up to 90 days; longer stays require a residence card (carte de séjour) applied for locally.

What you need

  • Passport valid for the duration of stay, ideally with 6 months validity remaining
  • No visa required for stays of 90 days or less
  • Return or onward ticket
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Sufficient funds for the stay
  • Completed entry/exit form (fiche de police) filled in on arrival

  • Visa-free tourist/business entry: 90 days, free
  • Carte de séjour (residence card) for stays beyond 90 days, work, or study, applied for at the local préfecture, fee around MAD 100 (about USD 10) plus document/stamp costs
  • Work visa requires employer-sponsored authorisation from ANAPEC obtained before arrival

  • Repeated short border runs to reset the 90 days can draw scrutiny from immigration

Tips for United Kingdom travelers

  • Keep a photocopy of your passport bio page and entry stamp separate from the originals
  • Airport immigration queues at Casablanca Mohammed V and Marrakech Menara can be long in peak season; arrive early
  • If staying with a Moroccan host for an extended period, the host may need to register you locally
  • Moroccan dirhams (MAD) cannot be obtained outside Morocco, so change money on arrival or use local ATMs
