What you need

  • Passport valid for the whole stay, ideally with at least 3 months validity beyond departure
  • No visa required for stays up to 90 days
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or rental contract), which may be checked at the border
  • Proof of sufficient funds (roughly EUR 50/day as a guideline)
  • Return or onward ticket
  • Travel health insurance is recommended, not mandatory

Tips for United Kingdom travelers

  • Keep your white-card registration slip for the duration of your stay and show it on departure if asked
  • Confirm with private rental hosts that they have registered you, as not all do this automatically
  • Montenegro uses the euro despite not being an EU member, so ATMs are widely available
  • Coastal towns like Kotor and Budva get very busy in July-August; book accommodation ahead so you have proof ready at the border
