British citizens can obtain a visa on arrival at Madagascar's international airports, or pre-apply online via the eVisa Madagascar portal to save time at immigration.

What you need

  • Completed arrival visa form, available on arrival or in advance via evisamada.gov.mg
  • Return or onward flight ticket

  • One passport-style photo, 35mm x 45mm, white background, if applying online
  • No biometrics required on arrival; fingerprints and photo are taken at the airport desk for arrival-visa applicants
  • Travel health insurance is recommended, particularly given Madagascar's limited medical facilities outside Antananarivo

Visa types

  • Tourist visa on arrival: single entry, valid up to 90 days, covers holidays and family visits
  • Business visa on arrival: single entry, valid up to 90 days, requires an invitation letter from a Madagascar-based company
  • eVisa: same categories processed online in advance via evisamada.gov.mg, collected at the airport on arrival

  • Payment accepted in EUR or USD cash at the airport; the eVisa portal accepts card payment
