What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure date from Schengen, issued within the last 10 years
  • No visa application or form required for stays up to 90 days
  • Proof of onward or return travel ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking, rental confirmation, or invitation letter)
  • Evidence of sufficient funds, recommended around EUR 40-100 per day of stay (rarely checked but can be requested at the border)
  • Travel health insurance with at least EUR 30,000 coverage is strongly recommended, though not mandatory for short-stay UK visitors
  • No biometrics for visa-free entry; the EU's ETIAS travel authorisation (EUR 7, valid 3 years) is expected to apply to UK travelers once fully rolled out

  • No service/VFS fee applies to visa-free entry since no application is filed

  • Keep a printed or digital copy of your return ticket and accommodation details in case a border officer asks
  • Remember your 90-day Schengen allowance is shared across all 29 Schengen countries, not reset per country
  • Overstaying even by a few days can trigger an entry ban across the whole Schengen area
