  • Photo spec: Not required for visa free entry; if you need a photo for future visas or ETIAS, standard passport photo specifications apply (35x45 mm, white background).
  • Biometrics: Not required for visa free entry; border checks use your passport for identification.
  • Travel health insurance: Not mandatory for visa free entry, but having travel medical insurance is strongly recommended; it should cover medical expenses and repatriation if needed.

Visa types

  • Short-stay Schengen visa Type C – for stays up to 90 days in 180 days; official name Schengen visa Type C; validity up to 90 days in 180-day period; entry single or multiple entries as issued; approximate fee around 80 EUR.
  • Long-stay national visa Type D – for stays longer than 90 days for study, work, or family reasons; official name National visa Type D; validity up to 12 months with multiple entries; approximate fee around 180 EUR.
  • Other options: After obtaining a long-stay visa you may apply for a temporary residence permit or other long-stay permits; note that these are not visa free options and require separate qualifications.

  • Total cost estimate: For a short-stay visa with standard processing, estimate 80 EUR plus any service charges; for a long-stay visa, estimate 180 EUR plus service charges.
