  • Sufficient funds for the stay
  • Payment method for the visa-on-arrival fee (cash in Indonesian Rupiah or card, depending on the port)

Visa types

  • Visa on Arrival (VOA) - single entry, 30 days validity, extendable once for a further 30 days
  • e-VOA - same terms, purchased in advance online to skip the airport queue

Visa on arrival

  • Available at major international airports (Soekarno-Hatta Jakarta, Ngurah Rai Bali) and some seaports
  • Pay the fee at the counter in Indonesian Rupiah or by card, or pre-pay online via molina.imigrasi.go.id and present the QR code on arrival
  • Queues can be long at peak times, so the e-VOA option is recommended
  • Immigration stamps the passport for an initial 30-day stay

  • VOA fee is IDR 500,000 (approximately USD 32) for 30 days
  • Extension at a local Imigrasi office costs a similar amount and takes from same-day up to a few days to process
  • Processing for the e-VOA option is near-instant once payment is confirmed

  • Use the e-VOA option before departure to save time at immigration
  • Keep small Rupiah notes or a working card ready if paying on arrival
  • Apply for extensions before your current 30 days expire, at any local Imigrasi office, usually with a sponsor letter from your hotel
