What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure from Guyana
  • No advance visa or entry form required
  • Return or onward ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds for your stay
  • Accommodation details (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Immigration arrival card, completed on the flight or at the border
  • Travel health insurance recommended but not mandatory

Visa types

  • Tourist entry (visa-free) - up to 90 days per visit, non-renewable from within a single stay
  • Business entry - covered under the same visa-free allowance for short meetings, up to 90 days
  • Work or study - not covered by visa-free entry; requires a separate permit arranged in advance through Guyana's Ministry of Home Affairs

Entry conditions

  • No advance application is needed
  • Present your passport and completed immigration card at the port of entry (usually Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Georgetown)
  • The immigration officer stamps your passport for up to 90 days
  • You cannot take up paid employment during this stay
  • Extensions can be requested at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Camp Street, Georgetown, before the stamp expires

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee, since entry is visa-free
  • Airport departure tax of around GYD 4,000 (approx USD 20) may apply if not included in your ticket
  • No processing time, as there is no advance application

Tips for United Kingdom travelers

  • Many flights route via Trinidad or other Caribbean hubs - check connection times
  • Carry proof of return travel and accommodation, as border officers sometimes ask for this
