Visa on Arrival

UK citizens can get a Cambodian e-Visa online before travel (around USD 36 including service fee) or a visa on arrival for USD 30, both valid for a 30-day single-entry tourist stay.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date, with at least one blank page
  • Digital passport photo for the e-Visa, or a physical photo if applying on arrival
  • Completed visa application form (online for e-Visa, or paper form at the airport for visa on arrival)
  • Proof of accommodation and onward/return ticket may be checked
  • Sufficient funds for your stay (not routinely checked but good to have)
  • No biometrics required for the tourist e-Visa or visa on arrival
  • Travel health insurance recommended, not mandatory

Visa types

  • Tourist (T) visa: single entry, valid 30 days, fee USD 30 on arrival or USD 36 online (e-Visa, includes a USD 6 processing fee)
  • Ordinary (E) visa (business): single entry, valid 30 days, extendable multiple times inside Cambodia, fee USD 35 on arrival
  • E-Visa is only issued for the Tourist category; Business visas must be obtained on arrival or via embassy

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap international airports and major land border crossings
  • Complete the arrival form, submit your photo, passport, and visa fee (USD cash, exact change recommended)
  • Fee: USD 30 for Tourist visa, USD 35 for Business (Ordinary) visa
  • Processing at the counter typically takes 10-20 minutes, longer when flights arrive together
  • Alternatively, apply for the e-Visa at evisa.gov.kh before travel to skip the on-arrival queue - approval usually takes 1-3 business days and is emailed as a PDF to print and present on arrival

Fees & processing time

  • Visa on arrival fee: USD 30 (Tourist) or USD 35 (Business), cash payment
  • E-Visa fee: USD 36 total for Tourist visa (USD 30 visa fee plus USD 6 processing fee), paid online by card
  • E-Visa processing time: typically 1-3 business days, occasionally up to a week
  • No official express service for visa on arrival; e-Visa is effectively the faster option if applied early
  • Extensions inside Cambodia cost around USD 30-45 depending on duration and are processed by local visa agents or the Immigration Department in 3-7 working days

  • Apply for the e-Visa a few days before travel to avoid airport queues, especially at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap
  • Use only the official evisa.gov.kh site - unofficial third-party sites charge inflated fees for the same service
  • Keep a printed copy of your e-Visa approval, as some border staff still ask to see paper documentation
  • Common rejection/delay reasons include low-resolution photo uploads and mismatched passport number entries
  • If you want to extend a 30-day tourist visa, local travel agents in Phnom Penh or Siem Reap can process extensions faster than DIY applications at the Immigration Department
