What you need

  • Passport validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Brunei, and have at least 2 blank pages for entry stamps.
  • Specific forms: Apply online via the Brunei e-Visa system at https://www.immigration.gov.bn/; there is no DS-160 or VAF1A for Brunei. Complete the Brunei e-Visa application, and upload your passport bio page and a recent photo.
  • Financial proof: Not routinely required for the tourist e-Visa. If requested by immigration, provide bank statements or evidence of sufficient funds to cover your stay.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Have a confirmed hotel booking or invitation letter if staying with a host; have a return or onward ticket available.
  • Photo spec: One recent passport-style photo (51 x 51 mm / 2 x 2 inches) with a plain white background; taken within the last 6 months; show full face, no hats or sunglasses.
  • Biometrics: Biometrics may be requested as part of the online process; if required, you will be instructed to provide biometrics at a Brunei Embassy/Consulate or approved Visa Processing Center.
  • Travel health insurance: Not mandatory for the visa but strongly recommended to have travel medical insurance that covers your Brunei stay.

  • Work visa: Official name Brunei Employment Visa; Validity up to 2 years (renewable); Max stay length of contract; Entry: Multiple entries (subject to approval); Approx fee: 100 BND (about USD 74).
